Let’s Beat the Heat!!If you are a resident of Broward, Palm Beach or Miami-Dade counties then you can spay or neuter your cat for only $15 during the week of February 21-25. Services include: spaying/neutering, rabies vaccine, microchip, and FVRCP vaccine. SPACES ARE LIMITED, so please call for reservations at 954-359-1313 ext 9271. The program is sponsored by the Southeast Florida Region Spay/Neuter Coalition, which includes Broward County Animal Care and five other animal shelters located in South Florida.

Upcoming Pet Events.January and February are busy with plenty of events that will highlight our adoptable pets and the great programs and services we provide:

  • This Saturday, January 28: Doggie-Palooza from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Happy Tails Dog Park in Seminole Park, 6600 S.W. 16 St., Plantation.
  • Saturday, February 4: WOOFSTOCK 2012 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sawgrass Sanctuary, 237 N. New River Circle, Sunrise.
  • Saturday, February 4: Dog Bowl 2012 at T.Y. Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 3300 N. Park Road, Hollywood.
  • Saturday, February 11: Pictures with your Sweetheart: Bring your pets out for a Valentines photo and some treats. This event will be held at our Fort Lauderdale facility, 1870 S.W. 39 St. from noon to 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 25: Pet Expo at Pompano Citi Centre, 1955-201 N. Federal Highway, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As Seen on TV!Our adoptable dogs and cats are now airing on Comcast’s “Pets on Demand” program. A number of our pets are featured during the show, which will run through February 10.

Super Paw Challenge! From Sunday, January 29 to February 4, when you adopt a dog or cat at our Adoption Center you can enter your name in a raffle by guessing the winner of the Super Bowl. On Monday, February 5, we will draw a name from the winning team’s bowl and award a special pet gift basket to the lucky Super Paw winner!! GO PATS!! GO GIANTS!

Get Involved! For all those who enjoy working with the public and/or on a computer, we need you! We are looking for Volunteer Greeters to work in our Front Desk area with our Customer Service team. Greeters welcome our customers and give them basic information regarding our shelter programs and services. Hello All! My name is Princess!I am a real sweet gal with lots of love to share. I am a 1-year-old Terrier-mix and I know what it means to have fun! I am located at our Fort Lauderdale Adoption Center, 1870 S.W. 39 St., so come on down and make me part of your family. We are open for adoptions this Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
