Foster Kittens for Broward County

With hurricane season upon us, now is the time to prepare your pet by making sure he has his Pet Registration Tag. The red, heart-shaped tag on a secure collar is your pet’s ticket home. If your dog or cat becomes lost, he is ten times more likely to be returned to you with the tag around his neck. In addition, the tag:

  • Confirms ownership. Your Broward County pet registration helps identify you as the owner.
  • Ensures a happy reunion. Unregistered lost pets often never return home since their owners cannot be contacted. Usually, they end up being adopted by someone else.
  • It’s the law! Both Florida Statute 828.30 and Broward County ordinances 4-10 and 4-11 require your dog or cat be vaccinated against rabies and registered.

For more information about pet registration, as well as a list of veterinary offices and locales where you can purchase the tag, visit our website at broward.org/animal.

Bottle Feeders Still Urgently Needed! Kitten season, from May to September, is almost here and it is during this time of year that we see a big increase in the number of young kittens that come into our Adoption Centers. Many of these kittens are orphaned and, therefore, must be bottle fed by a loving and caring Foster Parent in order to survive. Very young kittens must be bottle fed within hours of arriving at our shelter, so a strong team of bottle feeders is essential for their survival and growth. Foster Parent applicants should be able to have the time to bottle feed every few hours day and night. To register to provide foster care, please contact our Foster Coordinator, at 954-359-1313 ext. 9272.
